Drill and Crazy Waves

"THIS IS A DRILL. THIS IS A DRILL. THIS IS A DRILL."

The 2nd day involved a evacuation drill- everyone had to put on their life vests and go to their locations for their mini-boats in case of an emergency.

And the waves were crazy! Reading back on my diary, it says that the boat is rocking a lot. In the Buford scale (scale for waves), the waves this day measure 8 or 9 out of 10. At the time, as I had no other "wave experience" to compare these waves with. After 3.5 months of living at sea and looking at this photo, I realize how rough the sea was. Never again did I see white patches likes the ones on the photos below.

It is due to these waves caused by the typhoon, that we stayed in Sagami Bay for this night as well, and due to the rockiness, the Welcome Party was also postponed... it was one of the many things and events that changed during the voyage.
I realized through that and with this whole experience how much larger and in control nature is to us. Nature is powerful and free. Too often, we assume that we can control anything and have everything the way we like, but we are so small compared to it- the waves, ocean, the earth. I liked that we respected ways of nature and to be flexible for that didn't cause me much stress at all.
